About MOSSI

Sea ice and ice sheets are important components of the Earth’s climate system, influencing planetary albedo, sea level, ocean circulation and interactions between the atmosphere, ocean and polar environment. Their dynamics involve fluid flow, elasticity, fracture, thermodynamics, wave propagation and processes acting across widely different spatial and temporal scales. Mathematical models are therefore essential for understanding these systems and predicting cryospheric change.

Aim of the Workshop

MOSSI brings together mathematicians, geophysicists, engineers and computational scientists to present new research, discuss challenging modelling problems and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration in sea-ice and ice-sheet mathematics.
